HR Assistant

Location: Rohnert Park, CA
Type: Full-Time, Temp to Hire

Full-time HR Assistant needed in Rohnert Park, CA. This is a Temp to Hire opportunity. Pay DOE.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports administration, coordination, and application of company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Responds to employees benefit questions, assists with resolution of problems regarding access to or payment of benefits, assists employees with paperwork related to filing medical claims, and processes enrollment forms and change requests.
  • Coordinates paperwork related to benefits, retirement plans, COBRA, workers compensation, and unemployment.
  • Maintains employee files and database.
  • Submits payroll information and may backup payroll function as needed during vacations or absences.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and conducts new employee orientations.
  • Assists with communication of benefit programs changes and updates.
  • Performs general clerical and administrative duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Assists with recruitment activities through screening applications and resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews for warehouse related positions.
  • Responds to phone calls from applicants as to status of open positions and their application.
  • Schedules interviews for supervisors and managers.
  • Conducts employment testing for applicants as required by the position.
  • Conducts reference checks and background investigation process including but not limited to criminal checks, drug testing, and other special checks as determined on a case-by-case basis, on final candidates.
  • Conducts research and assists in sourcing and networking contacts through schools, community agencies, and other sources.
  • Assists with coordination of both internal and external job fairs; ensures that timely registration and payment are made to vendor; ensures materials, applications, marketing brochures, and give-away items are ordered and delivered to the job fair; assists in coordinating the resources needed to staff the job fairs.
  • Assists in developing presentation materials to market company at high schools, technical schools, colleges, and community agencies.
  • Reviews job files to ensure they are complete and in compliance with legal, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Assists in writing and placing advertisements in a variety of sources including but not limited to newspapers and internet sites.
Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify. 1-2 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Outlook, and Paychex software.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
