Manufacturing Engineer – Endovascular
Local candidates in the Santa Rosa, CA area please. Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC),Determines manufacturing operation requirements and process parameters ,Develops advanced manufacturing systems and processes,Performs process and equipment validations ,Supports manufacturing, development, and implementation processes,Implements quality system improvements.  Responsible for providing Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) support for Endovascular development projects. Ensures adequate manufacturing input and support throughout the Product Development Process (PDP). Develops robust and economically feasible manufacturing processes. Identifies and implements process improvements. Provides day-to-day technical support for Prototype/Pilot Manufacturing Operations. Reviews product designs and manufacturing processes for the purpose of improving quality, reducing cycle time and controlling costs. Actively participates in product development teams to represent Operations group. Recommends design modification and process changes where advisable to conform to production capabilities/limitations and minimize cost. Provides technical support in transfer of manufacturing lines to other Medtronic facilities. Assists in production scale-up of new products and solving related production issues. Assists in project planning and execution. Oversees the design and implementation of all special production machinery (jigs, tools, fixtures, machines, and handling equipment) to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels. Identifies opportunities for fixturing, automation versus manual operation. Reviews process yields and tracks defects with the Quality Department against cost of quality targets. Develops strategy to generate Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Qualification, and Validation Protocols/Reports, Manufacturing Instructions. BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or related engineering discipline with manufacturing experience) with 1 to 3 years relevant experience. Must have practical experience, solid understanding of mechanical principles, testing and manufacturing processes. Experience in project management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to identify and resolve issue without direct supervision. Proficient in common computer skills such as Word and Excel. Working knowledge of statistical tools such as DOE, SPC, Hypothesis Testing and Process Capability Studies. Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing. Experience with machine design and metal fabrication. Process Engineer
Highly motivated optical coatings engineer needed to provide leadership in the development and implementation of optical coatings. Design alterations to process equipment and product designs to improve quality of products and improve operating efficiency. Experience with CVD, MBE, sputtering and/or other thin film deposition techniques is required. BS degree in a technical discipline or related field. Assist in studies for design modification and process changes where advisable to conform to production capabilities/limitations and minimize cost. Provides technical support in transfer of manufacturing lines to other Medtronic facilities. Assists in production scale-up of new products and solving related production issues. Assists in project planning and execution. Ensures required jigs, tooling, fixtures, and equipments are fabricated in time to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels. Identifies opportunities for fixturing, automation versus manual operation. Assist Quality Department in reviewing process yields and tracking defects against cost of quality targets. Develops strategy to generate process characterization study like Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Validation protocols and/or reports, Manufacturing Instructions. Minimum education: High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Preferred education: Associate degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or other engineering discipline), other technical degree equivalent, or higher. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude in a fast pace working environment that works independently with minimal supervision. Proficient in common computer skills such as Word and Excel. Bonus experience: Medical device, GMP/GLP/clean room, process development and validation experience is preferred but not required. Experience with machine design and metal fabrication a plus.
